Infections that affect the body use a person's food and nutrients to grow and multiply. Pathogens or organisms infecting the body daunts the normal body functions and can lead to diseases and even death. A trigger to know that an infection has occurred in the body is inflammation. Some people have strong immune systems that fight against infection and helps heal the body. Some though are weaker; these people develop persistent infections. Most of these infections are caused by viruses and bacteria, such as hepatitis, measles, ear infections, lyme disease, urinary tract infection and sore throat.

Infections are not the same as diseases. Infections occur when the pathogen enters the human body and starts to grow. Diseases occur if the pathogen starts to multiply and produces all kinds of symptoms. Diseases occur when our immune system is low. Not all infecting organisms cause disease, and sometimes, there are infecting organisms that are not contagious but spreads in multiples inside the body. Some infecting organisms are both contagious and virulent. To treat infections, antibiotics were created. From this family of antibiotics came the popular amoxicillin.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infection. Amoxicillin is part of the Amino penicillin family together with Ampicillin and Bacampicillin. These antibiotic variants were the first to be discovered to fight gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli and H. influenza. Amoxicillin is the preferred antibiotics type of both doctors and patients, because it is absorbed faster by the body. Amoxicillin is available in different forms, from tablets to sodium salt for intravenous administration. Since it comes in different forms and dosages, it can be taken in by both adults and children. Amoxicillin is therefore used to cure sinusitis, diarrhea caused by bacteria, urinary tract infection, bronchitis and other common diseases and infections.

It is, of course, advisable to test for allergic reactions to amoxicillin before taking it in. This is the reason why it is a prescription drug. Some of the side effects that it causes include rashes, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. Amoxicillin is an effective drug to treat infections. Be sure though to consult your doctor before taking this antibiotic.
